It was when I saw the headline on USA Today, reporting on the Porterville Library fire and the tragic loss of Firefighter Patrick Jones and Captain Ray Figueroa. An international news agency was now telling the world what we already knew: Patrick was a hero. It’s still hard to say that my youngest brother, my best friend—my twin in spirit—is gone. But I know this: his death would be even harder to bear if I didn’t see how his life continues to touch others. Patrick lived to save lives. He trained for it. Prayed for it. Gave everything for it. And now, through this book, that mission continues. This story isn’t just about loss—it’s about purpose. It’s about extending Patrick’s heartbeat into the lives of those who need hope, healing, and a reason to keep going. That’s why I wrote I Got You.
