About Katie Jones
A Sister’s Story. A Survivor’s Voice. A Heart Still on Fire. My name is Katie Jones, and while I never imagined I would become an author or speaker, my life forever changed on February 18, 2020—the day I lost my youngest brother, Firefighter Patrick Jones, in the Porterville Library Fire. Patrick wasn’t just my brother—he was my best friend, my protector, my twin in spirit. We shared a bond that was unbreakable. And when he ran into that burning building, never to return, a piece of me went with him. But so did a calling. Through the grief, God gave me a mission: to tell Patrick’s story, to honor his courage and faith, and to help others who are walking through loss find healing, purpose, and light again.
A Life of Purpose in the Midst of Pain
Today, I share my journey across multiple platforms—as the author of I Got You, a speaker at churches and community events, and an advocate for those grieving the loss of loved ones, especially siblings and first responders.
I work full-time as a Records Specialist with the Visalia Police Department, and I’m also the founder of Jewelry by Katie, where I handcraft faith-inspired pieces that reflect beauty, healing, and remembrance.
I serve on the board of Gloves for Grief, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping individuals find purpose through pain. I regularly organize memorial events for fallen firefighters, and I’m committed to supporting The Patrick Jones Scholarship Fund, which helps future firefighters carry my brother’s legacy forward.
My Mission
To honor Patrick’s legacy by sharing the love of Jesus, comforting the brokenhearted, and reminding people that even in the fire—hope still lives.
Every talk I give, every piece of jewelry I make, every book I write, and every event I support is part of this sacred assignment. I’m here to help others find healing after loss, purpose in the pain, and strength to keep going.
“Grief may have changed my story—but God is still writing the ending.”
What Drives Me
I believe God is close to the brokenhearted—and we don’t have to walk through grief alone.
I believe Patrick’s life—and sacrifice—still saves lives today.
I believe that in every fire, in every storm, there is hope.
Whether I’m sharing my story on a podcast, writing a new chapter, designing a piece of jewelry, or comforting someone at an event, my heart is to remind others:
You are seen. You are not alone. And with God, even the deepest pain can give birth to a greater purpose.
